Lily was completely alone.
She definitely was physically, at least, because no one in their right mind was up this early. The sun had only just begun to come up. Insomnia was a total complete bitch, and it was easy for Lily to know this because she had a terrible case of it. She hadn't really slept in three days. She'd had a couple of half hour naps, sure, but nothing to make her any less exhausted than she already was.
Not only was she physically alone, but technically she was, too. Sure she had the Golden boys, and Hayley and Delilah and her other friends, but Lily was currently without a love interest. Not that she wanted one, quite the contrary, actually. Lily was completely against love and all its aspects. But it was still a bit sad that she was the only one without a someone; meaning now she couldn't gossip about it with anyone! No fun at all.
She'd been up all night, leafing through Delilah's Quidditch Through the Ages and finishing her Herbology essay [twelve inches of parchment]. But, as soon as the sun began to peek over the horizon, Lily was out of the Common Room and into the Great Hall, waiting for the others to wake up. She didn't want to be in the common room when they came down, it would look too suspicious and they might catch on that she hadn't been sleeping. It was about six o'clock and Lily lie flat on her back on the Hufflepuff table.
Red hair was fanned out beneath her head, bright emerald eyes studying the ceiling. It was moving with the faint outline of clouds; the faintest hue of sunlight flickering over the tiles. Still clad in shorts and a T-shirt she'd worn to 'bed' the night previous, Lily sighed deeply and shifted a bit to get more comfortable. Oh, how she wished she could sleep.
